Turn Around Boy [EN]

 Création 2011

Turn around boy is a 15-minute duo for two dancer-circus performers and the Cyr wheel. Playable indoors or outdoors, this small, whirlwind form combines lightness and virtuosity against a rock music backdrop. It can be performed twice in the same day, as long as the ground is flat (8m x 8m is enough)… Tarmac, fields, concrete, public squares, gardens, theatre stages – this duo adapts to any setting!*

Revisiting the myth of Icarus, choreographer Frédéric Cellé wanted to give metal wings to two circo-dancers. The premise is simple: the quest for one’s star. Blending dance and circus, the style is poetic, physical, technical, and resonates in everyone’s heart as a freedom to be seized. Two characters defy weightlessness, seeking an evolving strategy to reach out and touch the stars.

This show is suitable for all audiences, with a flexible capacity. Audiences are moved by the poetry of this duo, as well as by the Cyr wheel – an apparatus still little known to the general public. Both intoxicating and breathtaking, the show keeps spectators on the edge of their seats through the virtuosity of the circo-dancers and the aerial dance they perform.
